for the artist in you- SHOP ART
I won’t lie, I’ve always wanted my art on products, and to be fair any art on products. I have definitely spent more hours researching , emailing and talking to entrepreneurs on how we can make more artistic and usable products with a focus on traditional art ( not the digital but the traditional messy art) all this with minimal to little success.
Evolving of SHOP ART
As an artist with a stable day job I have always waited for opportunities to come in and I always believed in taking the minimum risk, but over time I realised no one will make it happen for you and even if they do it will never be like the way you envision - and this is how I started SHOP ART , with the idea to create limited products in an artistic way authentically depicting traditional art in its beautiful imperfection.
Journals: my starting point
So why did I choose to make journals before making anything else?
Well, when I started thinking of products I wrote a 100 ideas . My logical marketer brain detested - on the saturation of the "journal market" but when I closed my eyes and tried picking one artistic thing that transcends emotion and need , while being important to everyone in ways many of us don't realise -it is the importance of writing and journalling every day . And that is how SHOP ART journals were born.
If I have learnt anything over the past 3 years of journalling everyday is , we owe ourselves 10 minutes everyday, to practice good self talk, gratitude writing and self compassion - all to clear our thoughts. Expressing our feelings in written words, has been proven to reduce activity in our brains emotional centre, amygdala and help engage the thinking brain. This brain pattern can make sadness, anger and pain less intense.
So whether you choose to use the SHOP ART journal or no, I would urge you today to write down 5 gratitude sentences before the end of your day.
Coming back to the journey of the JOURNALS of SHOP ART
This quest for the perfect books led me to - Prachi — well, I always knew her but it was like stars aligned - and I remember we spoke hours on the right product fits . Every-time the dreamy artist briefs I provided Prachi was able to make the perfect samples, even better than the briefs. We spoke endlessly about products in the future , many samples sent back and forth later that is how the the journals could be manifested.
When Prachi shared the final sample , I had a tiny tear roll down my eyes , I knew then that I had not just found a work collaborator/partner, but a friend too. Thank you Prachi .
